Mildred’s Sunday’s School Class has been steadily working through “Dead Church Walking” to determine what is happening to their struggling church…and more importantly, what to do about it. A men’s Bible group across the country emailed to say the book study has evoked some very meaningful discussions without creating an atmosphere of despair and cynicism. Almost every week, I receive encouragement for acknowledging the “elephant in the room” of the church in America. There seems to be a growing courage among congregations to face the harsh realities of the anemia of the Western church that continues to atrophy, even while the global church is exploding. It is painful, but that is the nature of growth. And there is hope!
