The Wall
A Palestinian man crosses near the checkpoint at Bethlehem, Palestinian Territories.
In order for Palestinians to cross this checkpoint, which allows travel to Jerusalem, the disputed capital of Israel and the Palestinian Territories, one must obtain authorisation, pass through a metal detector and have all baggage scanned. This can be an incredibly humiliating experience: I witness a young man forced to take off his trousers as he attempted to cross because something in them - presumably the buttons - were causing the scanner to beep.
February 2010.
