"The new Internet. If AT&T and Verizon have their way." —Google
In 2006 Google produced this public service announcement to help sway legislative opinion leading up to a vote on the Internet Freedom Preservation Act of 2007 (S.215). Then Senator Barack Obama was a co-sponsor of this bill. The PSA aired in key districts for a month leading up to the vote.
With flags pointing toward an increasingly wireless internet, Google is now partnering with Verizon to pressure legislators to exempt "wireless" broadband.
Is Google abandoning the core principle of Net Neutrality? That a web user's access to web content should not be filtered, prioritized, constricted or banned by the corporations entrusted with that network?
