the Buildings

The Pajama Factory, located in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, consists of 300,000 square feet of floor area throughout a complex of 8 interconnected brick buildings, ranging in height from 3-5 stories. The wood floors are typically 50'-60' wide and ceilings are 12' high, allowing for the creation of customized spaces for individuals or businesses: large or small studio/work spaces with plenty of light and ventilation and great views! At the heart of our community is the courtyard which currently houses an outdoor pavilion, a patio with seating and a sculpture garden featuring work from a wide range of celebrated artists.

the History

The Pajama Factory is a complex of historic factory buildings built by the Lycoming Rubber Company between 1883 and 1919. After 1934, the Rubber Company moved out and until 1971, various companies used the space including pajama, underwear and shoe manufacturers. The building was scouted and used as a model for the 1950s Broadway play, and later the movie, The Pajama Game starring Doris Day. After 1971, the buildings sat mostly vacant for decades. Today, the Pajama Factory is again playing a starring role in Williamsport.
