Well, this is lovely. During last night’s game, the New York Yankees baseball organization and their fans put aside their decades-long rivalry with the city of Boston and the Red Sox to pay tribute to those affected by Monday’s Boston Marathon attack. After a moment of the silence, the crowd rose to sing along to Neil Diamond’s song “Sweet Caroline,” the song typically sung during every Red Sox homegame during the 8th inning. The song is heart-tugger on its own, but especially so in this context.
