Editor - in- Chief Moviefone:
AOL has an exciting opportunity for
the right candidate to lead our
Moviefone property as Editor in
Chief. The Editor will run
Moviefone, reaching an audience of
millions. The ideal candidate is an
accomplished journalist with a
passion for movies that knows how
to excite and engage an audience.
As part of the HuffingtonPost Media
Group the E-i-C will have the
following responsibilities:
- Manage and motivate a diverse
staff or editors and reporters.
- Develop and promote original
content, as well as fresh and
provocative approaches,
in a way that resonates with all
segments of our broad-gauge
audience, including movie
aficionados and general-interest
moviegoers.
- Drive editorial site and strategy
while working closely with other
senior staff and executives
- Create a high quality user
experience across multiple
platforms.
- Exercise excellent news judgment
and the ability to maintain the
integrity of our journalistic pursuits,
while also fostering a comfortable
environment for advertisers.
- Oversee homepage programming
and content.
- Manage relationships with studios
and the singular personalities who
run them.
- Represent Moviefone and AOL on
radio/tv spots and field all press
requests.
Experience + Skills Required:
- 10- 15+ years of experience
- Strong knowledge of and passion
for the movie industry, both
creatively and financially.
- Solid background in programming
a homepage and familiarity with the
technology are pluses.
- Proven success running major
online property focused on
entertainment and film.
- Nimble in meeting the dynamic
business and consumer demands of
the Web.
- Experience dealing with studios
and a familiarity with the singular
personalities who run them.
- Experience managing a team of
editors and reporters.
