Jebel Barkal
Locals waiting for sunset from the vantage point of Jebel Barkal, near Karima. During the time of the 18th dynasty Pharaohs the mountain was sacred ground for the Egyptians, whose rule extended into what is now northern Sudan. The verdant banks of the Nile form the back-drop, cultivated with palm groves.
April 2010, the Sudan.
