Karl Strauss Peanut Butter Cup Porter

5.6% ABV • 56 SRM • 30 IBU

Karl Straus Pintail Pale Alw

Karl Strauss and San Diego go together like peanut butter and chocolate. That’s why we chose San Diego Beer Week back in 2012 as the perfect place to debut our Peanut Butter Cup Porter. This decadent twist on a robust porter packs rich layers of smooth peanut butter and dark chocolate flavors. The lingering, slightly dry finish is sure to keep you going back for the next sip. Today, it turns out you really can have your dessert… and drink it too.

27th Annual SDBC Up A Life Holiday Toy Ride

San Diego Bicycle Club

December 13th (Hey it's 12/13/14!)

Tell your buddies, call a friend, post it on your social media page - just get the word out! Join San Diego Bicycle Club for the 27th annual "Light Up A Life Holiday Toy Ride" on Saturday, Dec. 13, to benefit the Salvation Army. The 40-mile round trip ride starts at 8:30 am at UC Cyclery located at La Jolla Village Square.

Riders are asked to bring an unwrapped toy to carry to the Salvation Army Ray and Joan Kroc Corps Community Center, located at University Ave. and 69th Street. Led by Santa Claus, the ride is holiday pace (slow), and everyone is welcome. The Salvation Army is collecting toys for children of all ages–toys for older children are especially appreciated–as well as canned or boxed nonperishable food. Decorate your bike in the holiday spirit. Prizes will be awarded before the ride begins to the best-decorated adult rider, junior rider, and tandem riders.

Build Speed & Endurance
In the Off-Season

Get stronger and faster with the Off-Season C-ride. The C-ride started two years ago when a group of WTC riders wanted to keep building on their WTC experience. Now, the C-ride is picking up the baton every Saturday now through December, rolling out around the same time as the B-ride (whoever talks less, rolls first). The C-ride is being led by Didier Sagan and Xavier Cany and a team of experienced C-riders and assorted ride leaders. Here’s what Xavier says to expect:

For the first two months we are going to go easy and help riders build up speed and endurance. As long as people feel comfortable with a 55 miles climbing ride any regular A, B and D-1 rider should be able to join the fun. We'll keep the group together on the flats and have the fastest riders loop or wait for the slow riders whenever necessary on the climbs. It promises to be a lot of fun!

So join Xavier, Didier, and the team for the fast, group training Off-Season C-ride!

Ride Report - SDBC Sunday Ride 11/9

A visit with Juan Carlos Vinolo at Sharp Rehab followed by a ride through CicloSDias Hillcrest/Bankers Hill

From Mike Pelkey's ride report -
A nice day for cycling, and an important ride for all of us for whom Juan Carlos has become a symbol of determination and hope.

Upon arrival, Juan Carlos and his family were already outside ready to greet us, along with Karen, Anthony, Allen, and Chris. A number of riders who had been involved in the Fiesta Island incident were also in attendance, namely, Brandon, Juan B, Ken, Richard, and Pat. After some congregation time we gathered for a group pic with Juan Carlos.

Click for larger imageJuan's comment below sums it up, and we echo his sentiment that we are also blessed to have come to know him.

"I am so blessed for all the new friends I have, it is not only the number but the quality of each of you! I truly thank you for your support and for making me happier! Pat thank you for making it happen! Love you all! Check out Fred on that hand bike, awesome!"

We carried on to CicloSDias Hillcrest, complete with one Allen Rider on his fixie, and coming down Ulric St. was a spinning event for him to be sure.

Click for larger imageNice to have no cars congesting the streets!

Why, isn't that Mr. Rider eyeing his next style of bike?

CicloSDias Hillcrest was somewhat uneventful compared to last year's CicloSDias in PB—not many booths, and no Clif BarsHappy face
