Kirk is a multi-faceted and principled leader with 32 years of diverse business experience and degrees from the Wharton School and Washington State University.  He is known for his demonstrated ability to lead complex and challenging projects, bring fresh thinking and uncommon insight to situations, and to empower and align diverse groups around common goals.  Accomplished at developing leaders, creating effective teams, and fostering adaptability to dynamic environments, Kirk founded ACTIONPOINTE to assist organizations and individuals in enhancing performance and effectiveness through strategic, leadership, and career development.
  
  
Richard Price, Program Manager

EA Engineering, Science, and Technology, Inc. 

  

Richard is a Professional Engineer with more than 25 years experience in program management, storm water permit compliance, low impact and sustainable design, environmental monitoring and training, stream and wetland reinstatement, surface and subsurface computer modeling, site remediation design, and irrigation system development.  He has experience in the complete progression of project development and implementation.  Richard has lived and worked in Nepal and the former Soviet Union where, in addition to his environmental consulting experience, he worked to construct irrigation systems and economically and environmentally sustainable housing, water supply, and sanitation facilities for refugees.

 

 

Mark Ambler, PE, PMP, Weston Solutions 


Mark is a licensed professional civil engineer in Hawaii and a certified project management professional.  He chairs the General Contractors Association Sustainable Construction and Renewable Energy Committee. and is a member of the State Environmental Council.  He received his BS in Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Mark has been working for Weston Solutions, Inc. since 2005 -- and has been supporting the Hawaii Department of Transportation's Harbors Division since 2009 in their efforts to achieve compliance with the Clean Water Act.

SAN DIEGO ELECTS NEW PORT OFFICERS
San Diego Ann MooreSan Diego Bob NelsonPort of San Diego, California USA Commissioner Ann Moore was sworn this month as Chair of the Board of Port Commissioners for 2013.  Commissioner Bob Nelson (upper right) was sworn in as Vice Chair and Commissioner Dan Malcolm (lower right) was sworn in as Secretary.

  

"As a Port, we just reached a huge milestone: our 50th anniversary," Moore said.  "It's a time to reflect on what we have accomplished since the Port was established in San Diego Dan Malcolm1962.  And it's a  time to look ahead and begin planning for the next 50 years." 

Moore said that her theme for 2013 is "A Port for All," which she said encompasses both Integrated Planning - a philosophy that approaches planning in context with surrounding areas - and inclusive decision making with stakeholder participation.

GRAYS HARBOR TAKES OVER BUSINESS PARK 
The Port of Grays Harbor, Washington USA recently took over the reigns of the Satsop Business Park, a 1,850-acre mixed-use business and technology park located in nearby Elma, Washington. 
  
The site has been transformed during the last dozen years from an unfinished nuclear power plant abandoned in the 1980's to the home of more than 30 businesses.  It offers 440 acres of developed, pad-ready land and buildings supported by super-sized infrastructure and surrounded by 1,350 acres of sustainable managed forestland.  This consolidation with the Port of Grays Harbor allows business park tenants full access to the port's deep-water harbor, full service marina, and jet-capable airport.  A newly renovated barge slip offers water access via the Chehalis River to the port's ocean terminals for intercontinental and short sea shipping.
TAICHUNG REPORTS FERRY TRAFFIC INCREASE
The Port of Taichung, TIPC in Taiwan ROC reports that the number of passengers using the port's ferry terminal for cross-Taiwan Strait travel increased 500% in 2012, mostly due to increased ferry services to and from mainland China.

The port reported 120,000 cross-strait passengers in 2012, compared to only 20,000 in 2011. The increase in traffic attributed to the addition of four ferries per week between Taichung and the southeastern Chinese province of Fujian.
