How can your port become more economically and environmentally sustainable?  Discover ways to achieve the environmental progress that your constituents want while achieving the economic progress that your port requires.  Hear firsthand perspectives from key port leaders and industry experts, learn what's new in sustainability at other ports, and network with colleagues -- all in beautiful Seattle, Washington!

This seminar begins with a continental breakfast at 8:45 am, the speakers begin promptly at 9:30 a.m. and the program concludes at 3:00 p.m. -- right in the Sea-Tac Airport Conference Center -- so you can easily fly in and out of Seattle that same day.  You may also participate in an optional free tour of state-of-the-art sustainability in action at the Sea-Tac Airport immediately following the seminar and concluding by 4:30 p.m.

Three examples of our outstanding confirmed Seminar speakers:

Mario Cordero, Commissioner, U.S. Federal Maritime Commission

Commissioner Mario Cordero was nominated by President Barack Obama in 2010 and confirmed by the U.S. Senate in 2011.  Prior to his FMC appointment, he was an attorney in private practice and served eight years on the Long Beach Board of Harbor Commissioners where he spearheaded the Port's pioneering Green Port Policy.  Mario served as APP Board President in 2010-11.  He also served as a professor of political science at Long Beach City College, sat on the Long Beach Community Development Commission, and served as Vice Chair of the Long Beach Ethics Review Task Force.  Mario received his BS in Political Science from California State University, Long Beach, and his JD from the Santa Clara University School of Law.

Kristin Decas, Executive Director, Port of Hueneme, California USA

Kristin Decas has served as Executive Director of Port of Hueneme since 2012. The Port Authority of Guam (PAG) Board of Directors recently broke ground on their long-anticipated Port Modernization Project, ushering in capital improvement projects needed to accommodate organic growth and the military build-up.  Funded in large part by a $50 million grant from the U.S. Department of Defense and administered in tandem with the U.S. Department of Transportation's Maritime Administration (MARAD), the modernization plan for Guam's only commercial seaport will commence with the groundbreaking.
The PAG Board also recently hired Joanne Brown as their new General Manager.  Joanne previously served as director of Guam's Department of Public Works.  She earned a Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Guam and a Master's Degree in Political Science from the University of Hawaii at Manoa.
