OREGON PORT OF COOS BAY SELECTS NEW CEO
The Oregon International Port of Coos Bay Commission has selected David Koch as its new Chief Executive Officer.  Koch was the Port's interim CEO since December 2011 and chief operating officer since October 2010.  Previously, he practiced as an attorney from 2006-10, handling legal issues for the Port and other public entities.

"David has done a commendable job serving as interim CEO over the past six months," said Commission President David Kronsteiner.  "He's well respected by the Port's partners and it's important to continue to draw on his knowledge and management skills as the Port moves forward with projects vital to the region."

"David is the right guy with the right skills and the right experience," said Commission Vice President Caddy McKeown.  "His education fits. His background fits."

Koch provided legal counsel to the U.S. Department of Transportation in 2000-02, and worked in the Coos County Office of Legal Counsel in 2002-06.  He earned a law degree and a master's of science degree in environmental studies from the University of Oregon.

Congratulations, David and Port of Coos Bay!

Yang Ming Marine Transport Corporation has announced that Ports America International Holdings Cooperatief, a Ports America Group affiliate, is set to acquire a 10-percent stake in the company's Kao Ming Container Terminal (KMCT) located at the Port of Kaohsiung, Taiwan International Ports Corporation.

KMCT was established as a Build-Operate-Transfer project.  The automated, environmentally-friendly terminal, which opened in January 2011, handled 1.08 million TEU during its first year of operation.  Ports America is the largest terminal operator and stevedore in the United States, operating in more than 42 ports and 80 locations.

ASTORIA RECEIVES $1 MILLION FOR PIER REPAIR
The Port of Astoria, Oregon USA was recently awarded a $1 million grant to resurface and repair the face of Astoria's Pier 2.  The project will include removing wood on the east side of the pier, replacing parts of the support structure, installing tin and rebar, and covering it with concrete.  The Port will contribute $250,000 to help fund the project.

The grant comes from ConnectOregon, a state multi-modal funding program for air, marine, rail, transit and other projects across Oregon.  This grant is funded from a pool of $40 million Lottery-backed bonds.
